Triumph T100RR
‘The story of this Tiger 100 begins with its import from America in 2016-17 by Kursaal Classics.
Initially, it wasn't in its Tiger 100RR configuration but had been converted at some point into a road-going Pre-Unit Triumph. The bike was purchased and restored toits original spec by Keith Pottinger, a well-known Triumph enthusiast recognised for his work on early 1950s Thunderbird projects.
Keith's interest in the bike was sparked when he encountered it in a rather dilapidated condition at the Kempton Autojumble. Over the next couple of years, he delved into researching the Tiger100 RR, with his findings confirmed by Richard Wheadon. Wheadon authenticated that the frame was indeed a 1957 Tiger 100 competition track bike, one of only 142 sent by Triumph to Baltimore in February 1957. These models were exclusively built for competition racing and not intended for road use.
The bike featured a rigid Triumph frame paired with a Tiger 100 engine that incorporated the newly developed ‘Delta’ head which was introduced in 1957. This innovative head design allowed for the installation of twin carburetors, specifically large-bore GP2 carbs in this case. The oil tank specific to the T100RR, situated behind the rear down tube, was meticulously fabricated based on various drawings and images of and original item.with the fuel tank being sourced from Ace Classics in London.
This rare motorcycle now proudly resides in a collection of Triumphs, showcasing not only its rich history but also the wide-ranging influence the Triumph brand had on the oval track, road racing, and off-road in desert enduro races.
Triumph was the brand that left a significant mark in both the UK and the US, in fact,….. globally!
